|Colin lasted 20 years at INMOS/ST. He got deeply involved in European projects and the quagmire of international standards, where he chaired the IEEE 1355 committee. Most recently at ST, he worked on high speed serial interconnect (DS links, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet and IEEE 1394). He was tempted in January 1999 to join a Californian start-up, Zayante, which built its business around 1394 technology and was acquired by Apple in 2002. He and Pat made a permanent move to the USA at that time, and he is now greatly enjoying helping to design Apple Mac computers. His daughter married a surgeon in 2000, is herself a radiologist at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, and is mother to his two delightful grand-daughters.
See his web site for how he spent 10 minutes being patriotic on New Year's Eve, Dec 2006, as part of an organ recital in Santa Cruz. updated Feb 07.
